Goaty Milk?

I get a lot of questions about whether or not our milk tastes “goaty” - and the answer is no! Why? Billy goats and their raging dude hormones have a distinct smell, and when kept in close proximity to the ladies in milk, that smell can transfer to the milk. We don’t keep a billy goat here, and there’s almost always one willing to help us out for a few days when it’s time to breed. Besides, billy goats do gross things like pee on their own faces to impress the ladies. Other things that may influence milk taste: what the goats are eating (did they get into a patch of wild garlic? Ew.) Also, not getting that fresh milk in the fridge and chilled fast enough can alter the taste. #farmlife #rawdairy #goats #goatmilk
